About this program

As the global demand for education in space science, earth observation and exploration continues to increase, the Institute for Earth and Space Exploration proposes to leverage our expertise to develop and implement a new Masters in Space Studies that captures the growing excitement and interest in space. This program will cater to individuals with backgrounds in science, medicine, social science, engineering, business, or policy and law who are interested in entering the growing space sector – or who are already in the sector and looking to further their education. This new professional masters will provide students with the necessary skills to work effectively in the rapidly expanding and evolving space sector, both private and governmental.

The Masters in Space Studies degree is being spearheaded by the Institute for Earth and Space Exploration in partnership with the Faculty of Science. It is the first professional degree in Canada to bring an interdisciplinary approach to space studies, hence the designated degree nomenclature. This professional masters program provides students with a wide range of necessary skills to excel in the interdisciplinary field of space exploration and to effectively communicate with, and work alongside, other members of the space community.
